Bumruk is an outdoor beach brand founded by two cousins based in West Palm Beach, Florida, who saw an opportunity to improve the beach-going experience. After a few pedal- fueled brainstorming sessions, while standing on the beach staring out at the wild blue yonder, the idea for Bumruk was born.OUR PRODUCTS
Being based in West Palm Beach, Florida, bike rides to the beach were nearly a daily occurrence for us. Although we loved biking to the beach, bringing everything with us was becoming a hassle.
We wanted to be able to hop on our bikes and easily cruise to the beach without the hassle of all of the usual bulky equipment. You know the culprits: the chair with the big square frame, the bag stuffed with sunscreen and drinks, and a hefty beach towel. But once we arrived, we realized that we were without the things that make a beach day enjoyable.
We noticed that others at the beach had a similar dilemma, having to choose between either a backpack or a chair. If they had chosen both, it wasn’t a pretty sight - sound familiar? This is where the idea for Bumruk was born. Our goal was to create something that is as comfortable and convenient as our favorite backpacks, has the added usability of a chair, and … doesn’t look or feel like you are carrying a Tommy Bahama on your back.
Since then, we have been working our bums off daily to turn this idea into a reality. After months of research and testing various materials, we created our first prototype, made improvements, sourced manufacturing, and are now ready to share the bumruk with you.
The native Floridian graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2014 with a degree in Economics and soon found himself working in the yachting industry for a few seasons as a deckhand and kiteboarding instructor before leaving to become an airline pilot. Due to the pandemic that hit the airlines especially hard, he found himself with plenty of free time, which allowed for brain-storming sessions with his cousin Will.
Will Sherman graduated from the University of Lynchburg class of 2020 after a successful soccer career with a degree in Business Administration. After his summer internship with a non-profit on the island of Nantucket was cancelled due to the pandemic, his cousin convinced him to move down to West Palm Beach, Florida to live together for the summer. As they say, the rest is history.
We’re conscious of the ever-increasing plastic waste and its devastating effect on our environment. Bumruk has been designed with sustainability in mind so the product and its packaging are completely recyclable.
We’ve worked hard to design Bumruk to be the last beach chair backpack you’ll have to purchase and in the rare case that certain pieces do wear out, they can be easily swapped out or replaced without having to replace the entire Bumruk.
The built in versatility also means that this isn’t just a beach chair but can be used for various applications as well as your everyday backpack.
There’s always so much more we can do, so we’ll be on the lookout for new ways to improve our manufacturing process to minimize our environmental footprint as well as looking to partner with ocean conservation efforts.OUR PRODUCTS
